PROGRAMS

At Budo Vancouver we offer classes and instruction in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Kickboxing and Self-Defense. All of our programs are designed to accommodate a wide range of experience levels, from the Beginner to Intermediate and Advanced.

BRAZILIAN JIU-JITSU

Our world class BJJ program is rooted in the local community and divided into three levels; Fundamental, All Level and Advanced/Competition classes.

FUNDAMENTALS

These classes are designed to give the beginner student a solid base of knowledge and a proper foundation in Jiu-Jitsu while improving their endurance, balance, flexibility and coordination. Participation in Fundamentals classes not only prepares beginner students for All Level classes but is recommended and beneficial for practitioners of all levels and experience.

ALL LEVELS

Our All Levels Jiu-Jitsu classes require students have a good foundation in the basics of BJJ and an understanding of the concepts taught in the Fundamentals classes. Instruction is focused on student’s skills development while introducing them to sparring and more complex techniques.

ADVANCED/COMPETITION

Advanced/Competition classes are for all belt levels and designed to prepare students for participation in tournament competition. These classes require students to be proficient in Jiu-Jitsu and assumes that they have a higher level of fitness. The techniques taught are advanced and a larger portion of class time is devoted to competitive sparring.

KICKBOXING

Open to all levels, the Kickboxing program is recreational and based on a mix of Muay Thai, Kyokushin Karate and Kickboxing techniques. Classes are fast paced and focused on teaching the proper techniques for punches, kicks and the use of elbows and knees.

SELF-DEFENSE

In this program we teach students how to defend against common urban attacks. The techniques we teach use leverage and timing so that anyone, regardless of gender and/or athletic ability, can learn to defend themselves against a larger opponent when confronted with various strikes, headlocks, joint locks, knife attacks and ground assaults.

Everyone is very welcoming and helpful. If your looking for a place with good atmosphere and top notch instruction in the Vancouver area, check it out…definitely worth it!!
